Quebec (parties unanimous) adopts law making the oath to the King optional for elected members (oath may sub to Quebec Constitution). Alberta, 32 law professors sign a letter calling to make the oath to the King optional. 3 Indigenous law students (from various First Nations) challenge Alberta's oath to the King (when called to the bar), citing modern colonialism and Charter violations.
I believe the majority of Canadians would support a Prime Minister who wants to amend the Constitution to allow Canadians to vote for a Canadian head of state in Canada. I am with the majority of Canadians who do not support the British Monarchy in Canada.

While in Ottawa from September 20th to 28th, I spoke with, among many others, former Conservative leader Andrew Sheer, Green Party matriarch Elizabeth May, part-time Canadian republican advocate NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh and Senator Marilou McPhedran, promoting a republic for Canada.
The Constitution of Canada does not permit Canadians to vote for their Head of State. British Royal birthright, is Constitutionally mandated. The Head of State of Canada is also Defender of the Faith. Her faith is in a genetically chosen Christian sect leader; Her. All members of Parliament, of all religions, and of no religion, swear or affirm an allegiance to Her.
